For the past 2 years I have been involved as the principle photographer for Sydneys annual charity event “An Arts Table for 1000″ as part of the Crave Food Festival.

This is a Dinner event where the guests are seated on ONE table that stretches all the way along Walsh Bay’s Pier 2.  Some of Sydneys top chefs and restaurant put together an amazing menu for the night and all the proceeds raised on the night go to a charitable cause.

Last year all funds raised at the dinner gala went to the Sydney Dance Company and the money went to Regional Arts NSW in 2010

I am again looking forward to work at the event this year when Accessible Arts NSW will be the benefactor.

These are some of the best photos from the shoot with Jordan in late January, for my client DHS Emergency, who are part of the Byron Group. These were taken just before she became the runner up in the Perth leg of the Iron Woman Challenge and the winner of the World Paddle Boarding Championships.

How would you describe your style of shooting?

People often say to me that they like my style, so I must have one. But I don’t like to weigh myself down with to many tags. I just love all types of photography. So let’s try “all-embracing & cinematic”…

What’s special about the place you’re coming from?

Sydney is the most beautiful and diverse city in the World. The places, people and their stories are a source of constant inspiration to me.

Your favorite filter + frame combination with the new EyeEm version?

Love the Gotham Filter with the bround or grunge border. Great combination for a dark and sombre mood…

Your pro tip for shooting great photos with the new EyeEm camera:

Simple Cameras, like the ones in your mobile phone are great, because they let you focus on the basics of good photography – content & composition. Think about the perspective. How close do you want to be to your subject? If you want to show somebody’s expression or emotions, you may want to be closer to that person. If you want to depict people in their environment, try stepping back a bit.

I like framing a shot perfectly in anticipation of somebody entering the frame. A lot of the times people will stop if you take a photo of a landmark or another interesting place. Just wave them along. Then when they enter the frame. Shoot. If they look at you. Even Better. Don’t use the digital zoom, use your legs instead.

The show incorporates sand animation with stunning visuals and is aimed at the high end corporate entertainment market. The brief was to create an online identity for the artist and performance.
